Tickets now on sale

"Songs of hope and inspiration from the one of UK’s leading worship songwriters, with special guest Mark Edwards."

Thursday 22nd October 2009, 7.30pm (doors 7pm)
William Aston Hall, Glyndŵr University, Wrexham (map)

Tickets £12 (unallocated seating)
Concessions £8 (U16, students, unemployed, seniors)

Our official box office is Illuminate, and for a small booking fee they will take your credit card orders over the phone on 01743 233657.

Many will be familiar with Stuart's work through the BBC's Songs of Praise and through events such as New Word Alive, The Keswick Convention, Mission:Worship, Mandate, and Spring Harvest. According to CCLI, songs such as In Christ Alone, How Deep The Father’s Love, The Power Of The Cross, and Beautiful Saviour are being widely used in churches across the UK and around the world, week in week out.

Mark Edwards is one of the most sought-after keyboard players and arrangers in contemporary Christian music. Having worked with the likes of Paul Weller and Chris Rea, and performed regularly at Ronnie Scott’s and jazz festivals around the world, he now produces and plays on albums by some of the best known names in Christian music, from Matt Redman to Graham Kendrick. His recent album, Hymn to Grace, is a beautiful blend of classical and jazz-influenced arrangements of hymns and songs.

The evening will be a mixture of Stuart with the band, solo songs from Stuart, and instrumental songs from Mark (with and without band). In contrast to our previous concerts, the style will tend towards jazz and folk, with subtle lighting. Some songs will be performance, and some congregational. Stuart will also talk about the process of writing, and the message behind his songs. There will be a mix of new material and
"old favourites".

Please help us by publicising this event in your church. We believe it will encourage and build up Christians in their faith, and provide a high-quality, zero-cringe experience for your non-Christian friends. If you can use any posters or flyers, please let us know. If you'd like to bring a large group along, please feel free to get in touch with us (not the box office) to discuss a group rate.

Tickets are also available over the counter from Manna in Wrexham and Wesley-Owen in Chester.

A date for your diary

We had planned to take a break from concerts this year. However, there's been a steady stream of enthusiastic "What's next?" enquiries, followed by a couple of exciting new releases: Stuart's brilliant new album Creation Sings, and In Jesus, arguably the best Phatfish album yet. So we've turned from our life of ease, knuckled down, done some hard work, and are now very pleased to announce:

Stuart Townend and band, the "Creation Sings" Tour
Thursday 22nd October, Glyndŵr University, Wrexham

Tickets will be £12 (with concessions priced at £8). They arrived from the printers today, and should be available for purchase very soon (details to follow shortly).

Flyers (A5) and posters (A4 and A3) are still at the printers, but we hope to start posting them out within the next couple of weeks. Please drop us a line if you want to make sure you are on our mailing list, or if you can use more than a handful.

We're still "in talks" with Phatfish, and hope to have some exciting in place for early next year. Watch this space!

Tickets Still Available

There are still plenty of spaces available for An evening with Stuart Townend. Although it is too late to send us a cheque, you should be fine if you just turn up and pay on the door. If you want to be sure, or if you're thinking of bringing more than just a handful of people along, please let us know and we'll put some tickets aside for you.

We've been encouraged by the interest in Jazz in the Quay of C, but unless you're planning to bring a large party there is no need to book tickets for this event in advance.

An evening with Stuart Townend

Thursday, 20th March, 2008

Connah's Quay Civic Hall, CH5 4HA (map)
7.30pm (doors 7pm)
Tickets £5

This is our third event with Stuart in North Wales, but this time we thought we'd do something on a smaller scale.

At this intimate solo event Stuart will perform songs (including new material from his latest album There Is A Hope) and lead worship.

The programme will be mostly acoustic, with subdued lighting and comfortable sound levels. All song lyrics will be projected. This event is suitable for all.

Tickets may be ordered in advance via post (cheque) or email (PayPal), to be picked up on the night. In both cases, please send us an email (see contact details on right), and we will email an invoice with payment details.

Capacity is limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Tickets will only be available on the door if there are any left!

If the price is an issue for you, please get in touch. We are a non-profit organisation, and we can be flexible on price.

If you can use these A5 flyers to invite people along, please drop us a line with your address, stating how many you copies you need.

Jazz in the Quay of C

Raul D'Oliveira with The Carey Jazz Band
A Bank Holiday Jam Session in aid of HOPEHIV
Easter Monday, 24th March, 2008

Connah's Quay Civic Hall, CH5 4HA (map)
7.30pm (doors 7pm)
Tickets £5 (on the door)

Raul D’Oliveira studied music in the Conservatoire of Lisbon, Portugal. His first instrument was the Cello, and his first professional instrument the Double Bass. “The Trumpet was going to be solely for Classical playing ...”

He has since toured and recorded with many household names: Joe Jackson, Kula Shaker, Joan Armatrading, Terrence Trent D'Arby, George Michael, Wet Wet Wet, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Mica Paris, Gloria Gaynor ...

“I have also been involved in Gospel music since I found a Bible in a hotel room, and that way was introduced to the Maker of the Universe, who changed my life ...”

Raul has also played in many jazz, latin/jazz groups, including: Onward International, Sonido de Londres, Roberto Pla latin emsemble ...

The Carey Jazz Band are: Tim Wells (trumpet), Dan Harman (keys), Tom King (drums) & Phil Harman (bass/manager)

Jazz in the Quay of C is our first local gig, and the emphasis for the evening will be strictly fun! Our programme will include a mix of jazz standards, with Raul adding more than a touch of class and latin flare.

All ticket proceeds will be donated to HOPEHIV - a registered charity giving love, protection and support to children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Check out these YouTube videos of Raul!

If you can use these A5 flyers to invite people along, please drop us a line with your address, stating how many you copies you need.

This event is sponsored by ColossiansThreeSixteen. We first met Raul at our Graham Kendrick concert in Wrexham last year, and we're excited that he's agree to play with our band.

Note: whilst this is not an overtly Christian gig, we do want to introduce Christian musicians to a wider audience.
